For the first time in three years stand-up comedian Demetri Martin performed at the local Palm Beach Improv located in City Place. Not many people have expected Martin’s career to take off in the way it has since that performance three years ago.
“I remember seeing him here three years ago, I’m shocked to see where he’s at now.” said Preston, an Improv bartender.
Since that time, the New Jersey native had inked his own television show and has been featured in numerous Netflix original stand-up shows as well. When he first started, Martin even acknowledged his remembrance of the local comedy joint, stating “I specifically remember this place, because the stage is in a corner and there is no escape if you suck and the audience wants to kill you.”
Fans of Martin are appreciative he’s returned to his stand up tour and back to his roots as well. “Even though I’ve seen most of his material on Netflix, a lot of things he does in his shows are new, I’m glad I got to see him live.” said PBA student, Brent Primus.
The feeling throughout the entire audience was appreciation that Martin has returned to South Florida, and Martin concluded his act with a guarantee it won’t be three years until he comes back.
